TAMING THE WILD SECOND ACT!

Adding More Conflict to your Screenplay

The biggest problems writers have (besides the 1st and 3rd acts) is the 2nd act – in this adventurous and challenging workshop, we corral the wild 2nd act and learn to bring it under control (hint hint – the 2nd act is actually 2 stories). Participating in this workshop with Professor Marilyn Horowitz is a surefire way to get your unruly 2nd act to a manageable size, and you will learn a better way to create a stronger character arc.

Suggested reading for this workshop is The 4 Magic Questions of Screenwriting, copies will be available at a discount at the workshop.

This is a fun, loosely structured workshop of improvised monologues and scene work. At the end of 4 weeks you will improve your voice as a writer, comic, and  actor. This course is appropriate for novices as well as the the more experienced performer.

Anne is amazing – she attended UCLA’s MFA playwriting program, collaborated on a CAA screenplay, studied improvisation with Cynthia Szegeti and The Groundlings and taught in South Central, LA. She performed improv/sketch comedy with Wigs and Endangered Improv at Don’t Tell Mama and Dean and Deluca, worked with the co-founder of Second City, and was directed by Michael Horn and Ann Bowen. Anne wrote, produced, directed and performed in two plays based on improvisation: “The Office Party” and “Aunt Ida’s China”. She performs stand-up at Gotham Comedy Cub, Caroline’s, Boston Comedy Club, Stand-Up NY (finalist in The Toyota Comedy Festival, placed second in the Funniest New Yorker contest), Dangerfield’s (finalist in Ladies of Laughter contest) and NY Improv Comedy Club. This will be a fantastic opportunity for performers and writers alike – I hope you will join us!
