Despite the fact I am not much of a college basketball fan, I found myself rooting for Western Kentucky in their win over Illinois last night. I have found that there is rarely one big reason for why we like something, but more often a lot of little things. So, here are a few of my little reasons for supporting this Bowling Green, KY team.
John Carpenter, the terrific director, is from the area and spent some time studying at the school. And after years of watching great films like Halloweeen, Assault on Precinct 13 and The Fog, I’m comfortable supporting HIS team.
My good friend Kate graduated from the school and many of her experiences there have obviously influenced her entertaining writings. Check out examples of her work at www.postcardsfromkate.blogspot.com.
And, finally, I have a soft spot for their mascot Big Red because my cat shares the name.
Not the best bracketology, I know. But sometimes it’s okay just to LIKE something, I think.
