Big news for fiction writers: Rick Frishman who runs the Author101University conference and is part of the highly successful non-fiction Morgan James Publishing company has now added a fiction arm to the company. Rick has long been a powerful advocate for the non-fiction writer and has helped thousands to realize their dream of becoming a published author.
While this is good news for us fiction writers, it does not change the unpredictable nature of the actual work of writing fiction. Unlike the two month wonder births possible in non-fiction, fiction writing requires that authors actually craft stories in which the words themselves are part of the art form, not the generic source of delivery forms words serve in a non-fiction world where the words are bricks to hold the ideas in place. In fiction, content and words must dance to a unique rhythm: that elusive gift that is called talent. “The Writer’s Voice” is the product of this alchemy, and once found, maintaining this connection throughout a work of fiction is a Herculean task.
In addition, the sad truth is that most authors must now be their own agents, not only editing and proof reading their own work, but also making the publishing deal, and physically preparing the book for publication. As if this weren’t enough, we are then expected to do our own marketing and promotion! And this is where CML Publishing, the new fiction arm of Morgan James can help us.
To recap, although it takes fiction writers longer to produce a great book, CML is a wonderful new option for fiction writers, for although there are many self-publishing options now available, few offer topnotch support and marketing, as well as Rick’s passion to help writers to succeed.
Thanks Rick!
