Happy Friday!
Summer is upon us, and I was so happy to be able to spend the past week in Fire Island.
I had the pleasure of working nonstop on my new Word of the Day book, and I have simplified the techniques. I’m very excited to be able to share them with you soon!
The next Word of the Day is Wednesday, June 15 from 7:00-8:30 pm EST. We will be reviewing the cool outlining techniques discussed in the last class. I will also help the contest winners prepare a logline, which they will need to have ready when presented with a professional opportunity. Please email me if you would like to attend.
The summer session of Rewriting the Screenplay in 6 Weeks started with a bang this past Tuesday. Every student completed an excellent first draft, and the translation from soft creation to audience participation has begun!
Here are three rewriting tips:
1. Pretend that you were editing someone else’s screenplay.
2. Write a brief description of what has happened before the story begins.
3. Use the 4 Magic Questions of Screenwriting to ensure that your hero/heroine and villain/obstacle are in perfect opposition.
Speaking of classes, the next How to Write a Screenplay in Eight Weeks begins on Tuesday, September 20!
Please consider supporting my friend Talia‘s pet project and help Davida get her piano. I have personally donated $250.00 to help her achieve her goal. https://gofund.me/
