Happy Friday! This has been an exciting week!
I’ve taken residence in my summer home, and have been living the writer’s dream! Peace, quiet, walks on the beach, the ocean, deer and birds.

Fire Island is a paradise with no cars, only bicycles and wooden boardwalks where you often can see deer feeding. You feel at one with nature, surrounded by your fellow creatures. I realize how important it is to be free of the need to be watchful as you do in the city, and the experience of taking a walk here is more like being hugged by what’s around you, rather than the constant sparring and push-back needed to get around in the city.
The Foolproof Storytelling Structure Webinar
On Monday, I gave a webinar, The Foolproof Storytelling Structure Webinar, on Commaful.com, an amazing new website where people create and post short stories in a storybook format. It was fun to share the 4 Magic Questions of Screenwriting with a group of young writers, all intelligent, talented and eager to create. I originally invented the 4 magic questions to make dramatic story telling simpler and easier, so that writers could focus on the creative aspects of the story. Their enthusiasm about receiving the information made my week! The webinar will be posted on their site next week.
Check out their site. https://commaful.com/ I think it’s the wave of the future, and Sydney Liu, its founder, is a terrific guy.
How to Create New Stories About Coping With the Pandemic-Part 5
Last night, I gave the fifth part of what has turned into a six-part free webinar with between sixteen and twenty attendees. The seminar has evolved into a screenplay and novel writing class, so last night, I taught students how to take the stories that they created using the 4MQS in the preceding classes, and transform them into a full 12 step outline using the Mythic Journey Map ® part of my trademark writing system. In next week’s final class, we’ll review several of the outlines and get attendees ready to write! Join us! If you haven’t attended before, I will review what we’ve learned so far.
The Zoom recording of the webinar is available. Email me if you want a copy.
TO RECAP
The big takeaway from both webinars is the HorowitzSystem® works! It’s a fast, easy way to build good stories every time, whether it’s a :30 joke, or a 600-page novel!
The books are available on my website: https://www.
