Happy Friday!
I had so much fun teaching my Creative Business of Screenwriting on Wednesday night! The workshop included a copy of The Four Magic Questions of Screenwriting and a 47-page workbook that included a basic Writer’s Agreement and a Copyright form.
It was an intense group! I got so involved I forgot to get a group photo. Luckily someone took a photo of me, so here it is:
The best three questions asked were:
Q: Can you use The Four Magic Questions of Screenwriting for structuring at TV pilot?
A: Yes, you can, a story is story, whether 120, 90, 60 or 30 minutes.
Q: How can I sell my screenplay?
A: Form relationships and develop additional material so you can give people a choice.
Q: Why do good writers often fail?
A: Like any other small business-cash flow and customer service.
Make sure you have a job to sustain you while you are building your writing career, and follow up with every person you meet who can help you. People like to work with their friends.
Kudos to my NYU student, Beau, who finished her script yesterday – that’s only seven weeks! Hooray for Beau!
Here’s to your successful writing!
